Trader Joe's Favorites

I've been on the Trader Joe's fan bus/wagon for a while now, and one of my favorite things to do is read their newsletters! Yeah my husband thinks I'm a little cray-cray and asks me "do you actually read it?" and I'm like "yes, all of it." Because from past experience, you almost always discover something new and delicious from them newsletters. I'm a little treasure-hunter inside, and I love finding Trader Joe's treasures!

... or do! My favorite kids toys and gear are the food-inspired ones! I mean, honestly, I wouldn't mind carrying that breakfast egg backpack around all day.

Halloween Munchies

This year, we're going to go trick or treating with a few preschool friends. But before we head out, we're having a small potluck so we fill everyone's bellies before knocking from door to door. I'm thinking about making some Halloween-inspired dishes that are both fun to look at and yummy to eat. And as always, I opt for cute Halloween spooks and not the scary and gruesome. Here are some of the things I might be making from around the web:

Adventures of The Bentos

What used to be something I dreaded has now become a fun morning activity, something I enjoy doing quietly on school day mornings when everyone else in the house is still asleep. Yes, that's right! I'm talking about making school bentos for our little guy! Warning: I am far far far from being a bento-making pro. I mean did you see some of the moms out there who make the most intricate bentos in the land? Ones I wouldn't dare eat because they're just too pretty to be eaten?

Bento Making.

Since our little dude has started preschool (Japanese preschool), I've had to rack my little brain for lunch ideas every Monday and Wednesday night for the past few weeks. It's so tempting to just order lunches through school, but I also want him to get what he likes to eat, and home-packed lunches are also a love-reminder in my opinion. I know he gets excited to open up his lunch box and remember that his mama packed it for him. But it is seriously hard to get creative with the lunches.

It's like they have all the healthy snacks for old and young in one place! And not only that, the packaging is simply delightful! I swear they're so cute, I'd buy them just for the bags and boxes. But everyone raves about their snacks, so it's a win-win situation! Our little dude looks for snacks at least twice a day, and I'm always stocking up on healthy yummy snacks, trying to keep it interesting. Nuts.com allows us to do just that! Happy snacking to all!!

Little Foods For The Little Kitchens

Here in our house, we're huge fans of food toys because the little guy loves to cook in his kitchen. Every evening, when it's time for me to make dinner, he tells me "wait for me mama! We'll cook together!". He would cook in his little kitchen while I cooked in mine, and he would fill the dining table with dishes he made for daddy, dessert included and everything. Here are some of our favorite food toys. Enjoy your weekend!

ChitterChatter: What Do You Feed Your Little One(s)?

I'm sure, like most parents, you, like me, have obsessed over trying to provide a balanced diet for your little one. Not too much sugar, drink water not juice, eat your greens, lots of fruits and vegetables, keep the fried stuff to a minimum (or not at all!). But the more our little guy grows, the less obsessed I become. It's becoming harder and harder to be strict about everything, nowadays I've taken on more of a "whatever" attitude.

Eggs-actly!

I came across these cute egg molds yesterday while I was browsing the web with my little sister. I don't know if I have any reason to shape eggs, but they're just too cute to not share. And for the kids who don't particularly enjoy eating eggs, maybe this will motivate them to at least try it? "take a bite off the rabbit ear honey!"
