A First-Time Aunt!

This past weekend, my little sister finally announced to the world (via FaceBook ofcourse!) that she and my brother-in-law are expecting their first bundle of joy later this year! That's right, I'm going to be an aunt and I am beyond excited! You really had to be there when they told us the news. Zoe (my sister) and John (my bro in law) were hanging out with S in his room and my husband and I were in our room. My sister came to us with her phone and said she wanted to show us a really cool picture she found.

ChitterChatter: What Do You Feed Your Little One(s)?

I'm sure, like most parents, you, like me, have obsessed over trying to provide a balanced diet for your little one. Not too much sugar, drink water not juice, eat your greens, lots of fruits and vegetables, keep the fried stuff to a minimum (or not at all!). But the more our little guy grows, the less obsessed I become. It's becoming harder and harder to be strict about everything, nowadays I've taken on more of a "whatever" attitude.

First Dentist Visit

Our little guy had his first dentist visit today! I took him with me to my semi-annual checkup a few weeks ago because they had suggested to do that at the dentist's office to get him accustomed to what it's like there and what the experience was all about. He was very curious at my visit and was very well-behaved. Today, at his own appointment, he was no different. He was perfect (like the hygenist said). He lay very still the whole time, opened his mouth wide when he was asked to, didn't flinch, didn't whine and just followed every instruction to a tee.

A Weekend Of Golfing

The little guy got to go to the golf range this past weekend and practice his swing. His clubs are still a little too heavy for him, but he had fun, as always. Someday, he's going to be an athlete. He still can't make up his mind on what his favorite sport is because he likes them all (he sees basketball players and he wants to be a basketball player, while he plays soccer with his daddy he wants to be a soccer player.. etc.). I already envision cheering like crazy at his games, and I already feel like a proud mama!

1. "Chopsticks" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal - This is a new book in our library and the little guy asks to read it every single day. He even reads it himself, remembering some of the lines in the book!

ChitterChatter: Do We Become Our Own Parents?

Growing up, I was always the calm one at home. I had the good temper. I was the one who tried to cheer people up (particularly my little sister) when they weren't in a good mood. I was the patient one. Who knew that motherhood could bring out the best in us and the ugliest. And somehow, during the many years of wonderful upbringing by my incredible parents, they have passed down not only the discipline, the ability to judge right from wrong, the compassion and kindness, but the way they taught us was also silently passed down. I didn't know that until I became a mother myself.

S: "Mama, so you pretend to be the bad guy and I'm Captain America!"

*me pretending to shoot laser beams while S blocks with his pretend shield*

S: "Can Captain America fly?"

Me: "No he can't. He's just really strong and really fast."

S: "Ok, now I'm Iron Man. Iron Man can fly" *sticks out his palm*

Me: "Ok go and save people. I hear someone stuck on top of a building!"

S: "Put on my cape, I want to fly!"

Me: "but Iron Man doesn't need a cape to fly"

S: "Who wears a cape then?"

Me: "that's Super Man"

We had a fun Easter this year. Two egg hunts, egg-painting and drawing, Easter brunch and great company. The little guy had a blast to say the least! Hope you enjoyed your Easter weekend!

We're a family that LOVES taking pictures, but I'm not always so good at sharing pictures. That is.. until Instagram. I love the app and use it at least once a day, every day. It's been the best medium to help us collect our family memories in one place. It might be something about the squares, I just love everything about it.

Under The Weather...

It's been a rough week with a sick baby and no daddy in the house. The little guy has never had a cough like this time around and it broke my heart to hear the heavy coughing in the middle of the night coming from his room. There's really nothing much we can do when it comes to coughing, I tried everything. Honey & lemon drinks, humidifier, herbal chest rub. The relief was always very temporary and it affected his appetite and sleep. He just seemed so helpless.
