Micah's 1st Birthday: Maimai-Bear Turns One!

The one year old curse attacked Micah right before his birthday party too! He had a fever on the day-of, but he was a trooper! First birthdays are mainly a celebration of the parents making it as one year parents anyway right? He won't remember that we worked hard to make his birthday party as cute as can be, or that we were screaming when the wind blew the giant balloons into the icing of the cake, or that he was on cloud 9 petting TWO adorable dogs at the same time at his own party. But still, we make the party as cute as can be.

This Week's Party Favorites

I've been thinking a lot about how to incorporate my profession (event planning) into the blog, and one of the ideas I had was to share some party eye-candy with you from around the web. Afterall, social media is huge right now and sometimes there's just too much to see! I'm always inspired by beautiful things on the web (especially on Pinterest, oh Pinterest how did we survive without you?). I love that you can take bits and pieces of your favorite ideas and mesh them together to create your one-of-a-kind party.

4th Birthday Party!

Ahoy mateys! This past weekend was S's 4th birthday. His birthday was on sunday but we had the birthday party on saturday. I say this every year, and will probably say it for the rest of my life, but I can't believe he's 4 already!!! The party was a great success, but I have to admit that the planning process (i.e. the two days before the party) was rather stressful. We're still settling down in the new house, it's neither fully furnished nor fully decorated, but we were getting ready to have 20 guests in the house (and that was me trying to keep it as small as possible).

Party At Sea

This blog post is a little late, but definitely worth the wait. We went to Max's first birthday party last month and had a blast. His mom (and my good friend) had told me she wanted the theme to be nautical/water-related because Max loves the water, and as always, she and her husband threw a fantastic party with lots of wonderful details. So even though I knew some of her plans, she still managed to exceed my expectations and I had fun seeing all the things they made! The menu consisted of fish-n-chips, clam chowder, goldfish crackers and ice-cream cone cupcakes.

Up, Up and Away...

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday! Happy birthday JL!! Birthdays should always have balloons because they just make everything more festive and more fun. I'm sharing some eye-candy via Pinterest with you today. Balloons can be used in so many different ways, and I've personally used all sorts of balloons in weddings and parties - from polka dotted ones, to heart shaped ones, to big round ones, to writing on a big balloon.

This year's invitation was a simple black and white invite that I ended up just printing and cutting at Kinkos. The illustrated image of our little guy was the inspiration for the whole birthday party.

Third Birthday Party!

The little guy turned 3 this past Saturday! I still can't believe we have a three year old. Someone just asked how old he is yesterday and I had to take a moment to think about it before answering "oh yeah, he just turned 3!". This year has been different because he understood that his birthday was coming and that mama and dada planned a party for him. He was anxious to play with all of his friends and to blow out his own candles.

There's Always Room For IceCream!

I am in love with the details of this ice cream party by Sarah (of Style Me Gorgeous) for her 2 year old son Max. And I can't wait to throw an ice cream party now. This would be a great baby shower theme too, so since the little guy's birthday is in the winter, I may have to throw one of these for one my pregnant friends!

Around-The-Town Birthday Party

We got to go to two birthday parties this past weekend. I'm surrounded by wonderfully talented friends who plan the best parties for their children, we had a blast! I helped a good friend come up with her 2 year old's party layout, and she implemented the idea so well it exceeded my expectations! Instead of having the usual focal table against a wall, we wanted to do something a little different. The idea was to create a road-map in a town full of stores and to make food/dishes that pertained to each store or landmark.
