Introducing: My Nephew Micah!

I've been gone all last week, and a crazy, hectic and wonderful last week it was. My little sister went into labor ten days early, and after an almost 36 hour labor (it's crazy, I know!!) and some superstar pushing (the nurse and doctor kept praising), my nephew Micah was born on Monday October 14th @ 10:13am. At 7 lbs 11 ounces, 20 inches, it's a good thing he came when he did! We were all surprised by how big he was hehe It was a once in a lifetime experience to be there throughout the labor, and I can't even describe how wonderful it was to meet Micah as soon as he entered the world.

Baby Tooth Chart

I feel like a bad mommy now that I've seen this cute baby tooth chart. I have no idea when little dude's teeth emerged. I mean I knew at the time, but I didn't write it down. Man!! Why didn't I find this sooner? I think it's such a fun way to record your baby's growth. So for all of you out there who have newborns (or an itty bitty baby who hasn't grown teeth yet), make sure you save this!

Bento Making.

Since our little dude has started preschool (Japanese preschool), I've had to rack my little brain for lunch ideas every Monday and Wednesday night for the past few weeks. It's so tempting to just order lunches through school, but I also want him to get what he likes to eat, and home-packed lunches are also a love-reminder in my opinion. I know he gets excited to open up his lunch box and remember that his mama packed it for him. But it is seriously hard to get creative with the lunches.

Cuddly Sleeping Bags

I'm excited for S to have sleepovers with his buddies when he's a little older, and I'm also excited to have living-room camp outs when we have more space. So ofcourse, when I saw these adorable and cuddly sleeping bags by Land of Nod (which my sister shared with me), I got... excited! They are cute, oh so cute. And you won't know which one to choose! You can also personalize them with your kiddo's name(s).

It's the first day of October, which means our favorite holiday is right around the corner! We love Halloween decorations, Halloween crafts and anything Halloween really! Little guy's costume has been ready since August, and he's excited to go trick or treating again. Here are some Halloween treats to help you get into October-mode! Enjoy.

ChitterChatter: Making New Friends

Ever notice how easy it is for kids to make friends with complete strangers? It literally takes them minutes to become buddy-buddies, and you'll see them running around and laughing in the park like they've known each other a while. I think we've all noticed. The other day, we were shopping at a warehouse and the owner's little girl was there. She came and took S to see her "hide-out" and after that, they were running around picking out carpet colors and what-nots together like they've been friends forever.

Fall Crafts

I don't go to PaperSource as often as I used to anymore, but they still carry some of the cutest things ever and it will always be one of my favorite stores! I came across some of their fall kits and crafts and thought I'd share some of my favorites. If you're looking for something fun to do with your little ones at home, these are great! Most include everything you need to make whatever it is (except maybe glue), and you can always add your personalities to the projects.

Reading Nooks

Oh how I would've loved to have a reading nook when I was growing up, what a dream! Instead, my sister and I built forts with mattresses and blankets, took a desk lamp in there and did our homework in the heat haha well that just shows you how much little kids like to hide and have their own territory. It was just fun to be "away" from the rest of the house. I'm pretty sure we also slept in there a few times even though there was barely any space. So now instead of dreaming of my own reading nook, I'm dreaming about giving the little guy one.

Party At Sea

This blog post is a little late, but definitely worth the wait. We went to Max's first birthday party last month and had a blast. His mom (and my good friend) had told me she wanted the theme to be nautical/water-related because Max loves the water, and as always, she and her husband threw a fantastic party with lots of wonderful details. So even though I knew some of her plans, she still managed to exceed my expectations and I had fun seeing all the things they made! The menu consisted of fish-n-chips, clam chowder, goldfish crackers and ice-cream cone cupcakes.

Delightful Books: The Day The Crayons Quit

It's actually very simple, we LOVE this book! I'm pretty sure we read it 10 times within the first two days, and all upon the little guy's request, not mine. "The Day the Crayons Quit" by Drew Daywalt is a fun story about a little boy's crayons writing him letters and giving him a piece of their mind. How do your little one's crayons feel? Over-used? Under-used? Treated unfairly? Happy and content? I'm pretty sure our little guy stopped peeling off his crayon wrappings thanks to this book!
