ChitterChatter: calling your spouse "mommy" or "daddy" after baby's arrival

It's funny because I used to ask my parents why they called each other "mama" & "baba" (mom & dad in Mandarin) when I was younger. And even after I grew up I always wondered why my married friends who have kids called each other "mommy" & "daddy". There was no more "baby" or "honey" or nicknames like I would hear when people dated in college. I actually told my husband that we should keep calling each other what we call each other (in our case, nicknames) because it feels like once you become "mommy" & "daddy" to each other, it's no longer as romantic.

Porcupine Pencil Holder

Oh my! Just for this adorable pencil holder, I can't wait for Seiya to start school (ok maybe I'll take that back). Maybe "I" just need one for my pencils (note-to-self, must buy some coloring pencils!). It's such a cute idea, but not only is the idea cute, the wooden porcupine is cute too! Unfortunately, it's made and sold in Japan, but I still wanted to share it any way because I think that the idea itself can present some fun creative twists for parents to organize their children's things.

Our Pick: Bib

It's a fact: our world would be a mess if we didn't have this Baby Bjorn bib! All our friends who see this bib are so impressed with the design, it's such a simple idea, but not many can come up with a brilliant idea like this. The design needs to be comfortable for babies, it needs to be easy to clean and it needs to catch the food that would otherwise fall all over the floor and cover the baby from face to who-knows-where! This truly is the only bib that does all of the above.

Ferocious Lion Jacket

A good buddy of mine sent this to me a little while ago so I can get one for Seiya. It's one of the cutest and most original coats/jackets you'll find, and would make your little one the talk of the town. Little Goodall uses a wool felt blend and you get a lining of your choice (solid, gingham or dot). The jackets come with tails and all so it'll be a multi-purpose jacket - for dress up and to keep warm! They come in all sorts of animals, but the lion is my very favorite!

Harry Potter Pillows

Oh my Gosh I'm so excited about today's post I can't contain myself! I swear my fingers are typing on their own! Let me start by saying that I am a HUGE, HUUUUUGE Harry Potter fan! I have the entire book collection (in the collector's box and everything) and I've read each one at least 4 times. I also have every HP DVD and I'm waiting for the last one to come out in November. I was one of those people who went to the bookstore at midnight and lined up to get my book. I love Harry Potter! And I love these Harry Potter pillows! There's one for Harry, Ron and Hermione.

A Circus Room

Lucky is the kid who gets a designer to design his room, and luckier is the kid who's designer decides to build a ferris wheel storage unit in his room. I wish I had one in my room growing up! The idea is pure brilliance by Kate Dixon of Artistic Living Spaces. It doesn't take up much room space-wise because it has height and you can rotate it to get what you need. Fun and practical! There are many details I love about this room besides the ferris wheel.

Toys For Food-Lovers

Children love pretending to be adults, and they especially love what goes on in the kitchen. The little chefs and foodies out there would love these wooden kitchen toys by Plan Toys. Our family loves their toys! Not only are they made out of wood, their designs are muchos cute! Seiya loves to sit on the kitchen floor while I'm cooking and pretend he's cooking too. I give him a smaller pot and a big wooden spoon and I throw in some goldfish crackers and he pretends like he's cooking fish (except he eats them while he stirs)!

Little Blue Elephant

Party planning usually starts with a theme or character, and then all the little details follow. In this elephantastic 1st birthday (via Amy Atlas), Belinda of Styled by Belle took a little blue elephant and created a fun-filled party for her little guy Lucas. Even though Lucas might not remember all the wonderful details, I'm sure seeing the pictures later in his life will blow him away!
