Our Home Office

We moved to our current house in December, and like most people who move, it takes a while to feel like you're really "done" with house projects. We did a bunch of renovations prior to moving in, the most major one being the kitchen. And it's finally all coming together. Even though this isn't a design blog or a home blog, and I am no expert at interior design or home makeovers, I wanted to share some of the changes on the blog because I'm proud of the results and because this blog serves as a family diary in many ways. So if you're interested, I'm sharing our current home office today!

Delightful Books: Fly Guy

Our current favorite reads are the Fly Guy series by Tedd Arnold. They are S's absolute favorites and we just borrowed a bunch more from the library yesterday. We came across the first one at a baby store.

Take Note!

I was introduced to the Boogie Board writing tablet (with an LCD screen) yesterday when we made a stop to the toy store. I made sure to remember it so I can research it when I got home, and now I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one for S. The idea is sort of like those old-school cellophane sheet covering a wax board things that we used to play with when we were kids. You scribble on it, you lift it to erase the picture and do it all over again.

Think glitter, think sharpie markers, think chalk board paint adorned with colorful chalk, think taping then dyeing, think taping again and dyeing again, think using string instead of tape, think dyeing with koolaid mix instead of dye, think making egg faces and accessorize, think leaving brown eggs in their natural colors and adorning with white markers. There are about a gazillion ways you can decorate your Easter eggs every year! And every year, somebody somewhere comes up with something new! We will be dyeing our eggs this Saturday and going to (hopefully) two egg-hunts on Sunday.

Return Of The Camo

I love that in fashion, everything makes a come-back. And everything comes back refreshed and improved, with touches of other current fashion and trends added on (look at the polka dotted camo backpack for example!). This year, the camo has made a return appearance. I remember it was a "thing" when I was in elementary-middle school and I never quite got it. But I have to admit that seeing some of these pieces in the little's fashion world has even made me, a prior camo skeptic, a believer and camo-lover. I die over the camo puffer vest and camo moccasins!!

Rooms of The Famous

There are a handful of bloggers that I follow religiously. All of them have different strengths and all of them so very inspiring. While I was reading through my feed today, I realized that all of a sudden, almost all of my favorite bloggers are now mommies and these blogger mommies have added their little ones to their blog life. And at some point or another, they've all blogged about their kid's bedrooms. Like I said before, kid's rooms are the most fun to decorate! I have loved seeing their room reveals, so I wanted to share them with you.

Life Lately...

This week is spring break! And even though it's been raining everyday and we didn't have anything in particular planned, it's nice to just have quiet time at home (it's even nicer not to have to plan school lunches for a change). Four year old has been a great age so far! Like most moms, I loved every stage we've been through, and at every age I say it's my favorite, so here I am again thinking four is my current favorite. I do miss the baby stages though, the chubby thighs and baby cuddles. Lucky for me, I have my baby nephew for that.

Paint The Walls Rainbow

Everyone who knows me knows I love colors and I'm not afraid to use them. Being a mama to a fun little boy just gives me more room and opportunity to play with colors. I have loved playing interior designer to S's rooms. His last room was painted a bright orange and now that he's a bigger little boy, I went with a blue-ish gray and a super fun wallpaper in his new room (I'll share his room with you when it's completely finished). I think parents should let their inner child(s) shine through their little ones. Don't be afraid to play with color when decorating.

Silverware In A Box

When I go out with my mommy friends, I always see them whip out a ziploc bag that holds forks, spoons and food-cutting scissors. And I thought to myself "there must be someone out there who sells boxed utensil sets to make it easier for parents!" and boy was I wrong. It is so hard to find here! We always used boxed utensil sets that have a lid that slides on. The set includes a toddler spoon, fork and a pair of toddler chopsticks. But we got both ours sets from Asia.
