This Week's Party Favorites

I've been thinking a lot about how to incorporate my profession (event planning) into the blog, and one of the ideas I had was to share some party eye-candy with you from around the web. Afterall, social media is huge right now and sometimes there's just too much to see! I'm always inspired by beautiful things on the web (especially on Pinterest, oh Pinterest how did we survive without you?). I love that you can take bits and pieces of your favorite ideas and mesh them together to create your one-of-a-kind party.

Wanted: The Perfect LunchBag

Once again, I'm faced with a problem only a mama would have to worry about. I am on the hunt for the perfect lunch bag. S has been going to preschool for almost a full school year now, which means I've been packing his lunch for almost a full school year. And since it's a Japanese school (and a general Asian thing), school lunches mean there's usually rice and sides involved.

Mother's Day 2014

I am so grateful and honored to be a mother. I am so proud and over-joyed to be S's mother. He gives life purpose, he gives us happiness, and our hearts are constantly overflowing with love. It's the best feeling in the world, watching this little guy grow up and seeing the world through his eyes. This was my 4th mother's day, but it was the first one where S was aware that it's mother's day and what the day means. He had his own plans. "I'm going to pick flowers for you from our yard mama.

Lilo-hood

I've blogged about having a pet before. But truly, everything is better because Lilo is in our lives. There's more happiness, more cuddling, more love and more play. We love her to itty bitty pieces. And we love that not only does our little guy have lots of wonderful memories with her, now little cousin is building some of his own with Lilo (notice how hard he is pinching her and how patient she (always) is). I'm excited to see adventures of this trio (especially since little cousin is getting ready to crawl)!

Mothers Day Gift Dilemma

Uh-huh, everyone else is posting mother's day gift ideas and here I am trying to figure out what to get some special moms in my life (including my own mama). Because yeah, lots of people are talking about it, but I still haven't seen anything that calls to me yet. I want something personal and unique. Something that says some thought went into picking out this gift. So I asked myself, what would I want for mother's day? Then realized my answers didn't help. I want 1. to hire cleaners to give our house a thorough cleaning 2.

Our Home Office

We moved to our current house in December, and like most people who move, it takes a while to feel like you're really "done" with house projects. We did a bunch of renovations prior to moving in, the most major one being the kitchen. And it's finally all coming together. Even though this isn't a design blog or a home blog, and I am no expert at interior design or home makeovers, I wanted to share some of the changes on the blog because I'm proud of the results and because this blog serves as a family diary in many ways. So if you're interested, I'm sharing our current home office today!

Our current favorite reads are the Fly Guy series by Tedd Arnold. They are S's absolute favorites and we just borrowed a bunch more from the library yesterday. We came across the first one at a baby store.

Take Note!

I was introduced to the Boogie Board writing tablet (with an LCD screen) yesterday when we made a stop to the toy store. I made sure to remember it so I can research it when I got home, and now I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one for S. The idea is sort of like those old-school cellophane sheet covering a wax board things that we used to play with when we were kids. You scribble on it, you lift it to erase the picture and do it all over again.

Eggsactly!

Think glitter, think sharpie markers, think chalk board paint adorned with colorful chalk, think taping then dyeing, think taping again and dyeing again, think using string instead of tape, think dyeing with koolaid mix instead of dye, think making egg faces and accessorize, think leaving brown eggs in their natural colors and adorning with white markers. There are about a gazillion ways you can decorate your Easter eggs every year! And every year, somebody somewhere comes up with something new! We will be dyeing our eggs this Saturday and going to (hopefully) two egg-hunts on Sunday.
