Mama-On-The-Go!

This summer has been super busy thus far with the summer classes, water play and park play-dates. I now understand the necessity of constant sun-block lotion application and I also know why most toddlers and kids become dark-skinned over the summer no matter how you try to avoid it. With all this outdoor play, this mama has realized that usual outfits don't really work and aren't very practical. There is mud, sand and dirt at the summer school, there is mud, sand and dirt at parks. Flats get so dirty and sandals mean I go home with dusty feet.

ChitterChatter: Watching TV Ain't All That Bad.

I admit I was one of those moms who was very careful about my kid watching TV at a young age. But now that the little guy is four, all the careful rules are a lot more relaxed. And maybe because of where we are now, it makes me wonder if all those restrictions were necessary. I wonder if we did it all over again, I'd do things in exactly the same way. I know a lot of parents are a lot more relaxed when the second (third, fourth etc.) kid comes along.

Baking To The Rescue!

Ok, is anyone else out there feeling like this summer break is going to be a long one already? It's been way too hot to play outside and we're running out of inside activities to do! Don't get me wrong, I love my little guy's company, but I feel so bad when he looks bored. We can only play hide and seek and whatever toys he has for so long. Most days we play, we read, we practice writing, we play some more, we watch some tv, we draw and then we wonder what else there is to do. It's time to create some magic in the kitchen! I love the idea of baking, key word being IDEA.

It's always fun to create a photo area for some cute pictures at a party. Whether it's a backdrop for the delicious display of food or a background for snapping pictures of (or with) guests. Here are some lovely inspirations from around the web, maybe some of these will even inspire you pick a party theme or two.

Our Life Photographed: Beginning of Summer

S's first year of preschool ended on a high note with his parents and aunt visiting from Japan. They picked him up from school and visited his classroom on his last day. And the week they were here, we were busy entertaining making trips to Brentwood, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Napa Valley. The little guy loves having guests in the house because every morning he wakes up and he has a house full of people to play with. He sure kept everyone very occupied! The house is so much quieter now, but we've had so much fun and we've done so much already we're appreciating the quiet time.

Summertime means spending a lot of time with loved ones and a lot of time outside! Here are some of my latest summer favorites. They can be just for fun, for throwing a summer backyard party or for a day at the beach. One more week of school before it's officially summer break for our little guy!

Highlights include: making lots of preschool friends, finally painting my flower pots, taking a pasta-making class with my little boy, making "gifts" for dada every day and surprising him when he comes home from work, new toys, bento-making, fun times in the back yard and hanging out with a very active baby cousin.

All these and more pictures are on my Instagram. (PITTR_PATTR)

Not The Car!

I suppose the car-seat makers can't help but make car seats that crease the seat surface of ours cars, especially the leather seats. And the little ones definitely can't keep their feet down when they're sitting back there. Taking their shoes off EVERY time you get in the car and then putting them back on when you get off is just too much of a pain. So that's the story of my life really.

These plush family sets are custom made for each family and I love the details that are included (e.g. the glasses, the beards, the fabric patterns and ofcourse the pets). Whether you're a family of one, two or four plus furry children, there's something for every family.
